On the corner of first and vine, former home to Two Dagos....the space has been completely transformed. Simple decor, a tall white candle on every table, a full corner full of windows...lovely indeed. Though I didn't sample the food, the menu looks interesting and everything that went by looked and smelled amazing. They seem to have a decent wine selection, a couple of beers on tap and a full bar. I will most definitely go back, you should check it out!

Wed, August 24, 2005 - 9:02 AMYes I accompanied the Principessa.. and my g&t was quite good tho not enough to judge the place sufficiently.. however, the decor was great.. not so manly or cold feeling.. had the right balance of the original brick and some modern additions.. The bartender chic seemed a bit apathetic at first, but she warmed up after a bit. And I liked just sitting at the bar.. We'll have to go back soon Paigey.. -

Mon, September 12, 2005 - 2:02 PMOk.. Paige and I have been back to this place at least once and I went w/ another friend the other night. It's my new favorite place.
Everything on the food menu other than the desserts ($7) are $8. Love that.. it feels more like a tapas place.. tho any of the flatbreads are actually pretty filling. We liked the proscuitto and bechamel one. Mm.. We also had the antipasti (sp?) plate which Paige wasn't all that fond of.. but I still liked.. deep fried green olives stuffed w/ yummy goodness.. cheese and some other things I forget.
When I went the other night we had a lovely bottle of Moltepulciano (probably butchered that name) tho it was a bit tannin-y and dry.. but Leilani, the bartender I now adore, made me her own special raspberry mojito and then later gave me a taste of her cranberry cadillac margarita.. yum! We had the same flat bread but then opted for the proscuitto wheels, which is proscuitto wrapped around mashed potatoes w/ some sort of balsamic and green pepper dressing.. good.
Anyway, go.. I love this place.. love the decor and tho it's picking up in the crowd, we always find a seat at the bar. -

Re: Black Bottle
Mon, September 12, 2005 - 2:04 PMThe only thing I didn't like about the antipasti was the Mozarella, it sucked. Other than that, the prosciutto wrapped figs and the stuffed olives were well exectued...fresh figs would be even better, but you can't have everything as evidenced by the aforementioned sucky mozarella. -

Mon, November 7, 2005 - 5:11 PMOk.. can I please talk about my favorite place more? Took 10 ppl on Saturday for my birthday and 3 of us on Wednesday.. The stand outs are the mussels - and I don't even eat shellfish, but am quickly changing my mind - they rock.. the flatbread and the chicken larb gai that's just chopped chicken and basically served w/ lettuce cups, etc.. So so so good! -

Thu, November 10, 2005 - 10:58 AMprosciutto-wrapped FIGS! now we're talking! ; )
i've never had that, but i've had its cousin, the schizophrenic bacon-wrapped fig (i can't even remember where i tried it).
at first, my tongue was confused, then delighted at the savory bacon, then confused again because what? is that a sweetness of the fig coming in to play? then delighted again because it was one sweet/savory combination that totally worked.
okay. i'm going. and i'm going for the figs. -
